The Cory Allen Trio debuted at the 2013 Old Town Lansing Jazz Festival. Quickly realizing the potential of the group, Cory conceptualized the album and booked gigs all over Michigan. Cory is joined by Jordan Otto and Joe Vasquez.
Jordan Otto was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan which is where he began to study percussion and jazz. Jordan went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University. Since graduation, Jordan has performed and taught jazz with the Anthony Stanco Quintet in several countries including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia. He is currently working on a Master’s Degree at Western Michigan University.
Joe Vasquez is a young up and comer to the music scene and has made a strong impact in keeping the tradition of jazz music alive while still maintaining a modern sound. He recently completed his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University under the direction of professor and renowned bassist Rodney Whitaker and has just completed his first year of master’s work in Jazz Studies at MSU as well. Throughout his five years as a career bassist, Joe has been a part of the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival and the Lansing Jazz Festival. He has traveled throughout the U.S. as well as to Canada and Trinidad and Tobago playing with artists such as Dwight Adams, Etienne Charles, Marcus Elliot, Anthony Stanco, and Diego Rivera.
The Cory Allen Trio is currently supporting their new debut release entitled “All in Good Fun.” The album features five original compositions by Cory and a unique selection of standards and covers.
