Stephen Boegehold (b. 1991) is a drummer and composer based in New York City. He has played with a wide range of musicians on stages from big American cities to tiny European towns, and loves to create music no matter the circumstances.
Stephen has self-released three albums: “A Telling of Death” featuring improvised music by two drummers and a guitarist, “Way of Dreams,” music composed by Stephen for two saxophones, guitar, bass, and drums, and “Shared Realities,” an album of improvised duets between drums and laptop-effected saxophone.
In 2015, Stephen helped to found Polyfold Musical Arts Collective, a group of musicians dedicated to developing and presenting creative works. Polyfold has continued to present concerts, residencies, and albums in Detroit and New York since its inception in 2015. Learn more about Polyfold at www.polyfold.org
A recent transplant to New York City, Stephen was brought up in Southeastern Michigan and learned how to make music in Detroit from his friends and mentors. Since receiving his BM from Wayne State University, he has been an active collaborator focusing on improvised music. You can probably find him in your local bagel store.
