This young talented bassist will be gracing the stage at Cliff's this Thursday. Locally he has provided a solid backbone for Jesse Palter, and in his spare time he has been globe-trotting and making a solid reputation that stands stern next to his name.
This talented young veteran will be showcasing his skills this Saturday to show all of you jazz-heads how it's done. We call him a veteran because he has plenty of experience in the field and the medals to proove it. He's here every Wednesday leading a 16 piece orchestra, but this weekend he's going to break it down so he can spend a little more time polishing the ivories for ya.
Anthony Stanko will be here with his quartet laying down some sets that won't leave you high and dry. This young trumpet player will blow the wax out of your ears and renew your faith in young Detroit talent. Show your support and don't forget to wet your whistle while you're here.
Pontiac/Detroit area guitarist Paul Abler returns home to perform at his first club appearance in the area since relocating to New York in 2003. With him will be his wife, vocalist Yashmin Abler, Brazilian songstress, pianist Sven Anderson, bassist Patrick Prouty, & drummer Dr. Prof. Leonard King. This evening promises to be filled with the exciting variety of jazz, sambas, funk, bossa novas, & rock essences.
No it's not a spelling error, it's one of the most vibrant and electric jazz/ funk trios in town. Made up of Dr. Professor Leonard King on drums and vocals, Rob Tye on guitar and Chris Codish on the Hammond and vocal; this is sure to be a night for the books. Get here early and mark your seat!
This amazing saxophonist and leader, Diego Rivera will be lighting the stage up with original latin jazz compositions and razor sharp tenor solos. They were dubbed one of the 'best local jazz acts' by the Lansing State Journal, but we'll just let you see for yourself.
Trumpeter DeSean Jones will be in this Saturday to do what he does best... Light the stage on fire. With his fiery solos, compositions and new twists on classics, DeSean's flawless skill and passion for the music truely shines through.

Randy Napoleon is one of the most sought after jazz guitarists throughout New York, where he currently hangs his hat... but his real home is in Detroit. This is where Randy first got his start, playing clubs throughout the city. His pure, crisp guitar tone has been compared to names like Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass, and for good reason. Come catch him with Steve Richko and Paul Keller, for one daisy of a night.
The Detroit Jazz Festival will be presenting a night, in collaboration with Cliff Bell's, featuring the Randy Napoleon Sextet. His group will feature Vincent Chandler on trombone, Justin Walter on trumpet, Ben Janssen on sax, Duncan McMillan on organ & Sean Dobbins on drums. Yes, you are correct... it doesn't get any hotter than this. So get here early and throw your hat and purse on your seats, folks!
If you're well versed with Detroits Rhythm and Blues nightlife, you've probably ran across RJ's Rhythmn Rockers. We're also pretty sure you weren't just sitting down in your chair sipping on a cosmo... you were probably drinking some whisky on the rocks, smoking like a chimney, sweating like a fiend and gettin way down with your lady on the dance floor. That's what their music does, and paired with the legendary Alberta Adams, you're surely in for a treat.
Kruno creates his own blend of gypsy jazz by fusing traditional balkan folk music with Django swing. Paired with the Hot Club of Detroit's skill and style, this is sure to be one hot night of gypsy jazz magic!

Legendary Detroit jazz pianist Johnny O'Neal will be here at Cliff's tickling the ivories for all you folks who just can't get enough. If you think your jazzfest weekend is over on Saturday... think again. Johnny always puts on an unforgetable show and will send you home with a little skip in your step.
Cliff Bell's will be gettin down a dirty with some of Detroit's fines Nitty-Gritty bluegrass outfits. Among some of the acts will be Shotgun Wedding; a three-piece hell or highwater country showdown that'll knock you on the floor and leave you hollerin' for more!
Cliff Bell's will be hosting an unbelievable night featuring some of the best talent, hot off the Jazzfest stage. Although when they get here, they'll be far from winded. Jazz heavyweights such as Wynton Marsalis' alto sax player Wes Anderson, Diana Krall's guitarist Dan Fanly, Andre Wright on skins, Roger Jones on keys, Andy Kline on bass and Dominick Farinacci will all get a chance to fuse their skills and styles together. Get here early for one of the hottest sessions in town!
